2022 Good Neighbour Award – Many Good Neighbours in Our Community

ACT Neighbourhood Watch Good Neighbour Award 2022 Recognises Many Good Neighbours in Our Community

Neighbour Day is about building better relationships with the people who live around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable. Neighbours are important because good relationships with others can and do change communities.

Knowing your neighbours, and your broader community has never been more important. Relationships Australia as the sponsor of Neighbour Day believes in the power of the Australian community to support its most vulnerable, to tackle loneliness, and to work together to ensure healthy and safe relationships throughout the current Covid-19 pandemic, and beyond.

NHWACT celebrates Neighbour Day each year by announcing the  Good Neighbour Award, which recognises an outstanding contribution by an individual(s) who has/have made a positive difference to their neighbourhood by regularly demonstrating the qualities and ideals of an exemplary neighbour over an extended period of time.

NHWACT will not be making an award to a specific individual(s) in 2022.  Instead, we  would like to recognise the significant contribution made by many Canberrans to the safety, security and sense of wellbeing within their neighbourhoods.  We acknowledge the  many acts of kindness and support towards others, particularly towards those who have been isolated from friends, family and their community during the difficult times brought on by the pandemic over the past few years.

On behalf of the Board and members of Neighbourhood Watch ACT – I would like to congratulate the Canberra Community for helping each other, looking out for their neighbours and making Canberra a safe place to live.
