ACT Policing and NHWACT are hosting another free Project SafePlate event, this time in partnership with Marist College, Pearce, ACT. Access to the Marist College carpark on Marr St will open at 9am and members of ACT Policing, Police cadets and Police volunteers will secure your vehicle number plates with tamper proof screws to prevent theft. NHWACT members will be on hand to distribute information on vehicle and home security as well as advice on how to safeguard yourself from scams.
Why Is This Important
Stolen vehicle number plates are most likely to be used in the commission of other crimes, including such offences as ram raids, burglaries, petrol theft, traffic offences (or any other crime where a vehicle is involved).
Remember: if your number plates are stolen, report the theft to ACT Policing through Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000) or online at Crime Stoppers ACT immediately to avoid the inconvenience of having the Police call on you when your plates have been used to commit a criminal offence.
